The Point Paper Art Company Stand: 513

Our limited edition 'enhanced' print has its origins from an original German jacquard textile point paper. The original work drawn in the 1950's was a single half repeat drawning. The point paper was painted with 16 colours that depicted the allocated face weaves to areas of the resulting fabric. The process by which the point paper was read to cut individual perforated loom cards saved painting time. The technicians completed the whole design in two parts Set A and B. The A half repeat was read horizontally weft row by row. Once completed the half design set A was repeated on a repeater cutting machine. The loom cards set of A were then flipped/turned over and set B were sewn/attached to set A. The full repeat of the resulting woven pattern is illustrated on our enhanced life size print. Our art celebrates beautiful art from textile history and the ingenuity of unsung designers working in factories on digital codes in days before CAD and the ease of cut and paste software.
