Jagger x Scarlet
)
BACKGROUND:
From Richard Hamilton in the 60’s to Andy Warhol in the 70’s and Russell Young in the 2000s, photography of Mick Jagger has long been the subject of groundbreaking Contemporary and Pop Art. Continuing this legacy, Scarlet has taken her own photograph which was taken on June 22, 2003 in Hockenheim, Germany as part of the 'Licks' World Tour, and created a work which sits alongside these iconic art pieces, playing with size, scale, colour and Pop iconography.
ABOUT THE ARTWORK:
This extra large scale artwork features an intense monochrome portrait of Jagger live on stage with the signature Rolling Stones lips logo on his guitar strap highlighted with a bright red accent. Designed by John Pasche in 1970 for the band after Jagger had suggested the tongue of the Hindu Goddess of destruction, Kali. Inspired visually by both this idea and Jagger's own lips, the most famous band logo was born.
This piece is Scarlet’s most exclusively numbered edition to date, limited to three in total.
Each work is printed on high quality Hahnemühle photographic paper, measuring 70cm x 100cm unframed, and is embossed and hand signed by the artist.
