This painting emerged from a spontaneous outpouring of mark-making – an instinctive and physical process of expression with no predetermined outcome. Unlike many of my works where these early marks are later buried beneath layers, here they are left exposed, raw, and unfiltered. The result is a piece that captures a fleeting sense of movement and emotional letting-go. As a counterpoint to its partner Tension, Release explores the beauty of surrender and the power of what’s left uncovered.
