For a touch of luxury, the beautiful poppies, all on the red/pink/orange spectrum, stand proud against its rich amethyst background and gold leaf ground!
The thick impasto application of paint makes the poppies stand proud and the gold table top lifts the whole composition.
I have used smooth brushwork for the background and impasto application for the flowers, stems and vase so the viewer sees contrasts in textures as well as in colours.
