Giselle transforms a raw assemblage of scrap metal into a moment of unexpected grace. By day, the sculpture appears jagged, weathered, and industrial; its fragments twisted together like the remnants of something long forgotten. Yet under light, this rough structure unveils its secret life: two dancers emerging in shadow, their bodies lifted into delicate poses that contrast strikingly with the sculpture’s rugged materiality.
In this work, elegance grows directly out of the discarded. The shadows evoke poise, balance, and lyricism, while the metal form beneath remains chaotic and scarred. This tension between the graceful and the broken lies at the heart of Giselle: a reminder that beauty often rises from unlikely places. The sculpture is provided with the metal backboards and lights.
