Holding summer's last breath

Paula Dunn Stand: 924
Holding summer’s last breath captures the fleeting beauty of late summer, as billowing clouds sweep across the northern moorland. The last golden light of the season catches the cloud tops, and illuminates the grasses below, bringing warmth to this expansive, windswept landscape.

Built up through layers of oil paint, the richly textured surface echoes the marks and rhythms of the land. A sense of movement and depth draws you into the scene, where shifting light and gathering weather transform the familiar into something fleeting and atmospheric. It is a moment suspended between seasons, holding on to the last warmth of summer as the wind carries the clouds across the moors.
