The hanging tail feathers of the morning's lifting clouds
)
The Hanging Tail Feathers of the Morning’s Lifting Clouds is a rich, atmospheric painting that captures the shifting light of an early morning sky. Billowing clouds drift and lift as the first light of day breaks through, illuminating the landscape below and creating a sense of movement, space and quiet optimism.
Built up with layers of oil paint, the painting is rich in texture, while gold leaf takes centre stage in the foreground, catching the early morning light and creating a striking, luminous contrast with the darker, earthy tones of the moorland. Evocative and immersive, this painting celebrates the ever-changing character of the landscape, where the interplay of light and cloud continually transforms the familiar into something extraordinary.
