The slim discs of reservoirs scatter the hillside
Paula Dunn
Stand: 924
The Slim Discs of Reservoirs Scatter the Hillside takes you high onto the northern moorland, where the vast, open landscape is punctuated by scattered reservoirs glistening in the sunlight. Clouds drift across the sky, casting shifting patterns of shadow and light over the wet, barren hills, revealing the richness and scale of this wild landscape.
Built up with layers of oil paint, the surface is richly textured, echoing the marks and traces etched into the land by weather and time. Gold leaf captures the fleeting sunlight breaking through the clouds, illuminating the land and drawing the eye across the hillside and into the distant horizon. The painting celebrates the expansive beauty of the northern moorland and the ever-changing interplay of light, water and weather.
