Memory into Still Life brings together acclaimed artists John Button and Nellie Shepherd for an inspiring exploration of composition, colour and expressive painting. The full course attracts artists from across the UK and around the world to Bullclough Art School in the Peak District. This taster offers a rare opportunity to experience John and Nellie's distinctive teaching partnership in an accessible, concentrated format.
A genuine art-school experience
A dedicated professional training room will be fully prepared with painting boards, acrylic paints, brushes, still-life objects and individual workspaces. John and Nellie will discuss their own paintings before guiding participants to arrange a simple composition and create one quick, expressive acrylic still life.

Each participant will create one contemporary still-life painting study on a prepared board. It need not be highly polished or fully resolved: the purpose is to experience the excitement of moving quickly from objects to composition, and from composition to paint.
