Manchester Academy of Fine Arts
Stand: 302
Anthony Ratcliffe is a printmaker whose work explores the British landscape, particularly its remote uplands and coastlines. Developed from sketchbook drawings made on location, his prints combine direct observation with research into the historical, topographical and archaeological features of the land. His lifelong involvement in climbing and fell running brings a distinctive understanding of these environments to his practice.
Formerly a lecturer at Manchester School of Art, Anthony now works full-time from his studio overlooking the Dark Peak. His prints are held in numerous public and private collections, including the British Council, Parliamentary Art Collection and Manchester Metropolitan University Special Collections.
