Janette Phillips Stand: 717

Working from her studio overlooking Morecambe Bay, Janette creates abstracted landscape paintings inspired by the shifting water patterns and light of the estuary, both experienced and observed. These sit alongside her more expressive florals which celebrate line, shape, texture and, most importantly, colour.

Janette works across a variety of media: in watercolour, acrylic, print, collage and most recently, oil and wax. Her art practice is constantly shifting to reflect her continuing curiosity with both the subject, the materials and the creative process itself. The ensuing dialogue is the real motivation behind her expressive fluid paintings.

Janette, a member of the Lake Artists Society, has been a professional artist for 25 years and has exhibited in many solo, joint and group shows in galleries and creative spaces throughout the UK. Her work  has featured in many publications, including The ArtistArtists and Illustrators and Cumbria Life, and she has won awards for her painting and exhibited work.

Janette's studio practice is interwoven with her role as a teacher, and her in-person and online teaching has taken her all over the world.
