David Edwards

Manchester Academy of Fine Arts Stand: 302
A Manchester-born landscape painter, the artist draws inspiration from the contrasting environments of the Pennine moors and the city's industrial and urban landscapes. Working predominantly en plein air, alongside drawings and colour sketches, the paintings capture the changing qualities of light, weather and atmosphere through direct observation.

Influenced by Impressionism, German Expressionism and Edward Hopper, the work explores Manchester's canals, rivers, mills and evolving skyline, reflecting a lifelong fascination with the city and its surroundings.

Having studied Graphic Design at Manchester College of Art, the artist pursued a career spanning advertising, art therapy and the NHS, while continuing to paint and exhibit.
