Dominic Richardson

Dominic's use of colour, texture and depth in his landscape painting gives a really special atmosphere. An intuitive, tactile approach in building up the layers is made even more remarkable by the fact that Dom mostly applies the oils directly with his left hand. At the age of two he was involved in a road traffic accident which resulted in a brain injury causing right-sided paralysis and partial sightedness. The characteristics associated with his injury have in fact given him the unique and heightened way of perceiving colour and space that is evident in his work. Based in Alston in Cumbria, Dom frequently goes out hiking in the North Pennines and the Lake District as well as in other rugged parts of the UK and beyond. Together with the sense of excitement in exploring iconic cities, these subjects have become the core to much of his work. Dominic sells and exhibits his landscape paintings in galleries in the North Pennines and at Art Fairs throughout the UK.
