Sara Hoque
Sara Hoque is a multidisciplinary artist working from her studio in East London. She is known for her landscapes that capture the essence of the natural world. Born to a Norwegian mother and British/Bengali father, her multicultural upbringing fostered a deep appreciation for travel and a nomadic way of life. This sense of movement and connection to nature is central to her work, which is heavily influenced by her life on a narrowboat.
Through her work she aims to unravel the complexity of ‘awe’- an emotion that can be both pleasurable and imbued with mystery or uncertainty. Immersed in the ever-changing beauty of her surroundings, she translates these experiences into paintings that reflect both the serenity and vitality of the natural world. Her bold use of colour is integral to conveying the profound sensations associated with awe.
