Annie Luke Turner is an abstract painter based in Cumbria. She trained at Cheltenham School of Art, gaining a First Class degree in Fine Art (Painting). Her work is inspired by the landscape - an interest in the history of a place, and how it feels to be there, not just the way it looks visually. The paintings are mixed media - acrylic, inks, drawing, collage and oils. They develop over weeks with layers of marks and a rollercoaster of problem solving, taking risks and pushing the materials. Annie has exhibited accross the North of the UK and Scotland and recently was selected as a finalist and then won the Women in Art Prize in London (Abstract work), which means she will have a solo exhibition at The Hampstead School of Art in London next year.
