Binu Chaudhary

Blue House Art Space Stand: 506

As an abstract artist Binu honours memory, sense of place and the beauty of environment. Her emotional works evoke being in the landscape and a sense of belonging through connection to place. Her colourful expressive works are memories from her childhood in India and having moved across continents throughout her adult life.

She started painting around 20 years ago with renowned artist, Astrid Dahl who taught her to paint from her gut, unabashedly. Over the years her style has changed, as has the media she works with, but abstraction has always been the common theme.

She is enthralled by the spontaneity of mark-making using many tools along with pencils, charcoal, pastels and pigments. The process of making this type of art works really well with the themes that she chooses where layer upon layer is laid down and then scratched back to reveal its history. She loves the depth that this technique provides to her artwork and helps her communicate her inner voice.

Binu is co-founder of BlueHouse artspace a working art gallery in Esher, UK
