Jude McKenna

My abstract landscape paintings are not necessarily grounded in the reality of a place, but are often imagined, with a tenuous link to a real place or memory. They are meditative atmospheric spaces, almost inner landscapes, which are emotional responses to memories or my feelings about a place I may have been to, dreamed of or imagined. Half remembered, half forgotten, I'm attempting to draw you in to my abstracted space, to immerse you visually so that you may decide what you see and what it means to you. They aim to stir something within the viewer, they resonate to remind you of a place you think you may have been but may not fully recall. When you engage with the paintings, you may experience mists, stillness, changing weather, seasons, showers, breezes, sunrises, sunsets. Hopefully you will have an emotional response. Ultimately the paintings aim to be meditative spaces, to dream and escape.
