Jan Dagley

Blue House Art Space Stand: 506

Jan is a painter and ceramicist who responds in two and three dimensions to synaesthesia, where one sense activates another sense or senses. She responds to poetry, where the poets use synaesthetic language and to fragrance, where she responds to the shapes, sounds, colours and textures of different perfumes.

Her abstract paintings are generally oil except when she uses mixed media for specific effects and her large ceramics are fired to stoneware and so can be displayed inside or outside. Generally topped by a large ‘crest’ whose flat form juxtaposes with the rounded forms of the vessels, the crestsb are inspired by perfume stoppers.

Jan has a BA in English, a BA in Fine Art, an MA in Fine Art and an MA in Ceramics.

Jan has exhibited at KD Fine Art, Guildford, Avartis Arts, Godalming, ArtOne, University of Chichester, The Studio Art House, Leatherhead, The Oxmarket Galleries, Chichester, The New Ashgate Gallery, Farnham, The Willis Museum, Basingstoke. The Boilerhouse Gallery, Corfe Castle, Dorset, L’Artishe Gallery, Swanage, Dorset, oastal Gallery, Lymington, Hampshire, Crafts Study Centre, University for the Creative Arts, Farnham, Hayles Art and Interiors, Barnes, London
