Ottelien Huckin

Degree Art Gallery Stand: 406

Ottelien Huckin, born in 1993 to Dutch and English parents, is a London-based fine artist celebrated for her intimate and sensual depictions of the female nude. She graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 2016 and furthered her studies at The Sotheby’s Institute of Art in 2019.

During the UK's lockdown, Ottelien expanded her artistic practice by studying Japanning, the European adaptation of Japanese lacquer work. Her work often juxtaposes the female form with hand-painted details of flowers, birds, and insects, reflecting her experiences in nature and her childhood home in France.

Ottelien has exhibited across the UK, including a solo shows and participation in The Mall Galleries, London, with The Royal Society of British Artists: RBA Rome Scholarship. She was a finalist for The Signature Art Prize 2019,

Ottelien's work challenges traditional representations of the female form. She draws inspiration from classical drawing and mythology, bringing a fresh perspective to figurative painting.
