Steven Phillip Smith is a Lancashire-born oil painter whose work captures the everyday world through direct observation, combining plein air painting with studio still life. Drawn to familiar places and collected objects, he explores the memories and emotions they evoke, preserving the colours, textures and details of contemporary life for future generations.

A full-time artist since 1996, Steven has exhibited widely, including at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, the Royal Institute of Oil Painters and the New Light Prize Exhibition. Elected a member of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters in 2025, he also serves as Vice-President of Manchester Academy of Fine Arts.
