Terry Rushworth

Manchester Academy of Fine Arts Stand: 302
Terry Rushworth is a painter whose work explores the English eerie, uncovering the hidden mysteries and uncanny qualities of familiar landscapes, objects and places. Drawing on childhood imagination and the unsettling sense that things are not always what they seem, his paintings invite viewers to construct their own narratives.

Working exclusively in oil on canvas and pencil on paper, Terry combines meticulous observation with an imaginative approach to storytelling.

Having studied at Oldham Art School and Manchester Polytechnic, he exhibited widely during the 1970s before pursuing a career in illustration and animation. Returning to full-time painting in 2015, he held a solo exhibition at Gallery Oldham in 2018.
