Tracey Hollis Rowe is a contemporary British landscape artist based in the North West of England. She works from her home studio and her main studio at Creative Spin Studios in Leigh Spinners Mill, Lancashire.

Style and Inspiration

• Subject Matter: Her main subjects are Wild Places & Landscapes, drawing inspiration from the moorlands, coastlines, mountains she hikes, and natural environments of the North UK.

   

• Technique: Her compositions are created from memory using expressive, gestural marks. Her process involves:

   

  • Layering paints and mediums.

     

  • Utilising palette knives and various tools to build texture, negative spaces, and form.

     

  • Working in a freer, semi-abstract style that captures the feeling or essence of a place rather than a photorealistic representation.

     

• Previous Work: She previously honed her skills painting wildlife/animals and focused on detail using dry mediums (like coloured pencil) before transitioning to a looser, more creative style with oils and later watercolour, which she found restrictive.
