Hannah Wooll

Hannah was born and brought up in Norfolk in a tiny village a stone's throw from the woods. She spent most of her time growing up watching old Hollywood films whilst drawing, exploring said woods and her wild ramshackle garden, and playing with Sindy dolls with her twin sister. Much of those early exploits and memories permeate her work now.
Her current practice draws upon her role as a mother and an artist, and the balance of juggling family life with an art career, drawing on these aspects of domestic and family life, and making work that is both intimately familiar and claustrophobically uncanny.
Hannah is in thrall to the process of painting and feels that play is very important within her process, and is constantly trying to find that balance between loose and resolved works.
