Iona Ford

Manchester School of Art Stand: 122

Iona Ford’s work explores folk history, oral storytelling, and her experience of being raised in rural Britain. In her contemporary practice, Ford works with absurdity and humour, critiquing the housing crisis in Britain through sculpture and performance. Ford has created a new legend, inspired by the World’s Biggest Liar competition held in her home valley. This legend explores the mysterious world of the Landlord.

Ford has helped run workshops at Longsight Art Space, here she worked closely with the Longsight community, encouraging them to share their stories through mask-making and performance.
