Jennifer Smithson creates her paintings slowly and carefully with careful consideration for each colour choice and mark she makes. Repetition is an important part of her process, layers of shape in a spectrum of colours sit one on top of another until she decides the work is complete. An almost hypnotic experience for both Jennifer and anyone viewing her work.

Smithson has had work included in exhibitions across the North West, over the last five years. Her work has been shown previously at Manchester Contemporary, as well as at Grundy Art Gallery, Blackpool; Buzz Hub, St Helens, Blackpool School of Arts. In 2025 she worked on a collaborative project with Jason Wilsher-Mills MBE and most recently she was selected for a group show The Big Picture at The Harris Museum & Art Gallery in Preston.

Smithson is an artist with the pARTnership, which is a creative and professional development project bringing together people with and without a learning disability.
