Jessica El Mal
)
Moving between planetary spheres —British and Moroccan, human and non-human, political and poetic—following the currents of ecology, migration, and globalization, Jessica's work traces the invisible structures that shape our lives. Water, in her recent practice, flows as both metaphor and matter: political, spiritual, and alive, brought into being through cyanotype, sculpture, textiles, and sound in immersive installations that invite audiences to pause, reflect, and inhabit.
Exhibiting nationally and internationally, her projects have appeared in spaces as diverse as Open Eye Gallery in Liverpool, Castlefield Gallery in Manchester, MAMA Rotterdam, and JAAL in Marrakech. Beyond galleries, she nurtures a creative community alongside her artistic practice, through co-directing A.MAL Projects, a transnational initiative connecting North Africa and Europe through art and research, fostering dialogue, exchange, and meaningful opportunities for emerging artists.
It is in between that Jessica and her work sits; where she exists and creates, and where new worlds can be dreamed up.
