Mark Houghton
Born in Warrington, Mark gained his first degree at Middlesex University (formerly the Hornsey School of Art) and subsequently his MA in Fine Art at the Cardiff Metropolitan University, (formerly the Cardiff School of Art & Design).
His work appears regularly in both group and solo exhibitions and has recently been acquired for private collections. He has also undertaken several residencies, in both the UK and abroad.
As well as appearing in catalogues, his work features in a world wide survey of 30 multi-disciplinary artists, “The Language of Mixed Media Sculpture” by Jac Scott, published by the Crowood Press, May 2014. In the same year he was elected to the Royal Society of Sculptors.
In 2015 he was commissioned by David Wilson Homes and Emma Price Projects to produce several permanent public sculptures at Ogmore by Sea.
Has taught Fine Art since 1997 at both Graduate and Under Graduate level, at Hereford College of Arts and Cardiff Metropolitan University, specialising in three-dimensional approaches to art making.
