Mik Godley

Primates Stand: 233

Growing up half German in Yorkshire, Mik began to look at his “forgotten” heritage when he got his first computer. The simple decision to find out “where Mum came from” (because that’s what people do) — by surfing the web — generated drawings and paintings of Lower Silesia from the landscapes, architecture and people found via Google through watercolours and acrylics, to archival digital prints from tablets and phones.

“Considering Silesia” has been exhibited from Baltimore to Bangkok, London, San Francisco and Zagreb, and received significant critical acclaim. Mik recently staged a large solo show of this project at the Attenborough Arts Centre of the University of Leicester.
