Marek Tobolewski B.1964 in the UK, a British artist born to Polish WWII immigrants. His interwoven abstract structures - albeit in a state of perpetual evolution and endless reinvention, seeks to control movement, ultimately revealing a sense of profound balance and stillness. Deeply concerned with symmetry and reflection ... rotation and mirroring linear forms, his compositions create a complex visual dialogue.
He devotes his creative practice to ambitious abstract paintings and drawings. While his earlier career focused on large-scale works, recent years have seen the evolution of a more personal, intimate scale. Through new works, he expanded this exploration by introducing handmade plant dye pigments and inks on paper.
After graduating from Brighton in 1986 he founded Can Studios in Nottingham and has been a resident artist at Primary since 2017. His works have been exhibited nationally, recent solo at Aleph Contemporary and internationally in galleries across Brussels, Paris, Atlanta, and New York.
