Peter Davis

Bury Art Museum Stand: 115
Peter Davis is a Manchester-based fine artist, painting contemporary portraits that tell stories about our time. His
artwork invites reflection and encourages viewers to reconsider their preconceptions and see the world from another person’s perspective. They explore themes including mental health, race, gender, ageing and technology addiction.

For over a decade, Peter has been documenting our evolving relationship with personal technology. His new ‘Gig
Pose’ series, which he is exhibiting at Manchester Contemporary, turns the spotlight on music culture.

He has exhibited widely, including at the Aesthetica Art Prize (2018), the John Moores Painting Prize (2020), the Cass Art Prize (2025), the Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer Portrait Award at the National Portrait Gallery (2024 and 2026), and the Royal Scottish Academy (2026). He is also an elected member of the Manchester Academy of Fine Arts (MAFA) and Contemporary British Portrait Painters (CBPP).

Public / Private Collections

Peter’s paintings are held in museum, institutional and private collections, including Gallery Oldham, Tullie House
Museum & Art Gallery, Keele University Art Collection and most recently Bury Art Museum.
