Sagnick Bhowmick

Manchester School of Art Stand: 122

Sagnick Bhowmick (b. 2000, Kolkata, India) is a sculptor from Kolkata, India, working primarily with clay, metal, and mixed materials. He studied Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculpture at The Indian College of Arts and Draftsmanship, Kolkata, India before moving to the UK to pursue MA Fine Arts at Manchester School of Art.

Bowmick's practice explores identity, migration, and interconnectedness, often drawing on Hindu philosophy to reflect on cycles of balance, belonging, and the fragile ties that hold individuals and communities together.

His sculptures invite viewers to reflect on how personal stories are inseparably woven into the wider human fabric, shaped by choice, migration, and the search for belonging. Bhowmick works with materials such as terracotta, metal, and plaster, integrating traditional sculptural processes with contemporary concerns.
