The Pearls Stand: 216

Born in Italy. Based in Preston, UK.

Roberta studied at the University of Central Lancashire Fine Art BA (Hons) including period abroad 2013-2014 with ISEP exchange student program, California State University, East Bay, Hayward, Ca, US. MA studio practice (2017). Her work was shortlisted for The Lido Stores Open Call 2025 and Irving Gallery Open Call 2025. Recently her work was featured in a group exhibition ‘PLANTED’ AT The FG Gallery.

Her work whether painting, arranging or curating in space, is influenced by the notion of entanglement, spillages, imperfection as an unfinished quality. She is fascinated by mythology, distant archetypes, and astrology. Throughout her art practice she is intuitively trying to weave a net between the ordinary and the spiritual.

Her paintings are derived from observation.

She attempts to respond and re-create what she notices and senses when immersed in a particular scene. She enjoys the process of finding balance between loose figuration and abstraction, often spilling into each other to different degrees in both painting and sculpture. She has fascination of the image, the tension between the form and the meanings together with colour. These are important elements to evoke an atmosphere, a mood in her paintings. Intuitively she engages with the scene, or assemblage of objects, plants that she arranges in the studio, through an imaginal lens. The titles in her works have precise values to evoke or direct but never tells the complete story. The concept of ‘title’ is very fluid. Her chosen titles are in Italian or English, and the same title might be given to different works.
