The Pearls Stand: 216

Born in Italy. Based in Preston, UK.

I studied at University of Central Lancashire Fine Art BA (Hons). Studied abroad 2013-2014 Exchange student with ISEP exchange student program. California State University, East Bay, Hayward, Ca, US. MA studio practice (2017).

When I am making a painting or thinking about how to arrange and curate in a space, the work, I am influenced by the notion of entanglement, spillages, imperfection an unfinished quality. I am fascinated by mythology, distant archetypes, and astrology. Through my art practice, it also seems I am trying intuitively to weave a net between the ordinary and the spiritual.

My paintings are derived from observation.

I attempt to respond and re-create what I notice and sense when immersed in a particular scene. I enjoy the process of finding a balance between a loose figuration and abstraction, often spilling into each other to different degrees on both paintings and sculptures.  I am very fascinated by the image, the tension between the form and the meanings together with the colour are important elements to evoke an atmosphere, a mood in the painting. Intuitively I engage with the scene, or assemblage of objects, plants that I arrange in the studio, through an imaginal lens. The title in my work has a precise value to evoke or direct but never tells the complete story. The concept of ‘title’ is very fluid. I can choose Italian or English titles, and the same title might be given to different works.
