ANEW is a recovery community and support organisation working across Greater Manchester/ based in Tameside. Our partnership began with ANEW Way to Peel an Orange, a collaborative project with artist and designer Joe Hartley and Portraits of Recovery (PORe) the UK’s only visual arts charity inspiring and supporting people affected by and in recovery from substance use (Recoverists).

ANEW Way to Peel an Orange brought together ceramics, photography, furniture making, gardening, growing and other forms of shared making. This work has developed into ANEW Decade, an ongoing collaboration creating permanent spaces for creative activity within ANEW’s services, including an artist studio and co-production space in Denton and a growing and making space at ANEW’s allotment. Supported by the Greater Manchester Combined Authority’s Collaborate fund, the project will provide opportunities for artists and the ANEW community to develop new work, share skills and connect with recovery communities across Greater Manchester.

Castlefield Gallery is a free contemporary art gallery in Manchester and artist development organisation. Established in 1984, we’ve led the way in artist development for over 40 years. We provide creative and career development, exhibition opportunities and commissions for artists and independent creatives.
