Charles Eastwood Photography

Stand: 811
Charles Eastwood’s photographic practice is rooted in close observation, revealing moments in which the familiar becomes strange, unexpected or quietly profound.

“I explore the unusual that exists in the ordinary. What the eye sees in a fleeting moment is not always what the mind has understood. The act of capturing a subject can reveal its inner oddness. In that passing, fragile instant, a truth is often told.”

Eastwood draws inspiration from the icons of Modernist photography, including André Kertész, Edward Weston, Imogen Cunningham, Edward Steichen and Man Ray, as well as the great documentary photographers Henri Cartier-Bresson and Margaret Bourke-White.
