Debbie Goldsmith
Working primarily in oils on canvas, Goldsmith creates large-scale works through layered brushstrokes, drips, and gestural marks that suggest rather than depict the landscape. Since 2020, she has expanded her practice into hand-tufted textile works, translating the visual language of her paintings into tactile, immersive surfaces made from dead stock Axminster wool.
Goldsmith graduated from Coventry Polytechnic in 1991 with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art. Alongside her studio practice, she has lectured at Stockport College and the University of Salford, worked as a Learning Curator at Tate Liverpool, and collaborated with arts organisations across the North West community art projects.
She lives and works in Cheshire, where her studio is based in a former Victorian railway ticket office, allowing space for the development of ambitious large scale works. Her work has been exhibited internationally and is held in public and private collections.
