Meta description: Discover these beautiful oil paintings of imagined abstract landscapes by UK based artist Eileen Bradbury at Manchester Art Fair
Medium: oil on canvas and linen
Style: Abstract expresionism
Location: United Kingdom
About the artist: After her career as a Psychologist working with Plastic Surgeons, Eileen gained an MA and an MFA in painting at the Manchester School of Art. Through her paintings in her studio, she explores ways of expressing strength, resilience and beauty, all qualities she had witnessed in her previous sareer.
Eileen's paintings are recognised by the sheer intesity of their colour and the use of space. The paintings stop and hold the viewer who can then explore the painting and find their own narrative and emotional response..
"When I stand in front of your painting I am very still." Gaia from Italy, visiting Brick Lane Gallery in London.
Artist statement: "It is amazing to me how absorbed I am in the process of painting, how it grabs me, pulls me in. All that I have seen in my previous caeer, all the trauma, chaos and recovery I have witnessed, all those images of valleys and hills, skies and seas. My life experience shapes my work and guides my hand. My paintings seem to be empty landscapes, yet much is happening. Areas of pure colour leave space for the viewer to find their own narrative, their own interpretation. Less is more."
Exhibitions and Collectors:Eileen's work can be found in private collections in the United Kingdom, in France and in the United States. She has shown her work in galleries in the north of the UK and in London (including on the Undergound system!).She has shown and sold her work in art fairs and has commitments to future London galleries and art fairs.
Current Work: I have recently become obsessed with the plane trees that line French roads. This started in the cold still January light where the branches reach up like fingers to the sky. The more I have seen and painted these trees, the more aware I am of the life force within them. Their strength and spirits are still alive. These works and others can be purchased at the Manchester Art Fair.
