The Fourdrinier

Stand: 221

the Fourdrinier [four-drin-ee-ay] is an online magazine based in Manchester and dedicated to contemporary artists, exhibitions and visual art projects.

In our writing, we are passionate about shining a light on contemporary artists in the north and providing readers with long-form features, reviews and interviews. We are committed to championing a diverse team of underrepresented writers.

Between October 2023 – October 2025, we produced the serialised journal Passing Cloud, detailing a conversation between two friends, Xhi Ndubisi and Jo Manby, and an imagined Artificial Intelligence, published on the Fourdrinier.

This creative art writing experiment ran alongside our monthly output of incisive, high impact art criticism. At The Manchester Contemporary 2025 we showcase a mix of two dimensional visual and audio art works that represent aspects of Passing Cloud.
