Leanne Pearce is a Newcastle-based portrait artist working primarily in oil. Her practice explores identity, vulnerability and the complexities of human experience through intimate, contemporary portraiture. Her current collection, In the Folds, examines privacy, protection and the ways we conceal and reveal ourselves, using fabric, pattern, shadow and the figure to create psychologically charged compositions. The work combines detailed realism with expressive surfaces and a strong use of colour and pattern.
