Nadeem Baghdadi
Based in Lancashire, Nadeem draws inspiration from walks in nature, where fleeting skies and quiet paths spark his first sketches in watercolour. These quick studies later unfold in the studio into rich oil paintings filled with expressive strokes and layers. Blending landscape with emotion, his abstract works capture the mood of the place and how it feels to be there. Each piece invites viewers to experience the landscape as transient and emotive.
Nadeem spent a lot of time looking at the works of Lucien Freud and Francis Bacon as well as impressionist painters such as Monet, Pollock and Turner. Within this period, which mainly consisted of self-learning, Nadeem looked and studied intensely the form and surrounding aspects of life, the clouds, the skies and the lakes and rivers around him. “Living in Lancashire, I am constantly inspired by the open spaces, vast skies, billowing clouds, and sprawling fields that define this beautiful region. These natural elements fuel my creativity and serve as the foundation for my artistic expression”.
Nadeem Baghdadi currently lives in Blackburn and works in his studio in Bolton. He studied at the Cumbria College of Art and Design, completing his studies in painting in 2001. Nadeem Baghdadi participates in exhibitions internationally.
