Newsstand Pavilion

Stand: Feature Area

News.. Live.. On Demand...

For each new edition of the fair, The Manchester Contemporary presents a dedicated Sculpture Pavilion, each time focusing on a different facet of the art world. Previous editions have explored themes such as art collections, art logistics, alternative art spaces, and the artist’s studio, offering audiences unique insights into the structures that shape artistic production and display.

The Newsstand Pavilion turns its attention to arts criticism, the arts press, and art writing, unfolding as an ongoing, live, rolling news cycle. At once a newsroom, stage, and publication, the Newsstand Pavilion will reflect on how the stories of the fair are told, circulated, and remembered.

Newsstand is made in collaboration with  Pallet Show and Uncertain States of Scandinavia (UCS Scandinavia). Centred on live reporting and publishing, the Newsstand transforms the stories off the fair into material for reflection, documentation, and performance, blurring the boundaries between news, art, and audience encounter.
