I studied at the Glasgow School of Art (GSA), where I was tutored by a number of leading Scottish artists, including John Cunningham, his work is held in the collections of The Hunterian and Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum.

My practice centres on observational drawing, primarily through still life and landscape. Working responsively from direct observation, I paint arrangements of everyday objects and my known environment. Images are presented simply and without embellishment, they invite a quiet, intimate encounter.

For me, painting is a sustained process of looking, measuring, and responding. Form emerges gradually through countless adjustments of line, tone and colour. I encourage traces of line to remain seen, so that each painting functions not only as a finished piece but also as a process.

Still life is rooted in the domestic space, it reflects the moments and relationships that shape everyday life. Landscape occupies a similar territory. To paint one’s environment occupies a dual position as both observer and observed.

I am drawn to these genres because they focus on the seen and the unseen. Through painting, I can offer the viewer the opportunity to look again at what might otherwise be disregarded. The simple shapes of a familiar building or the hidden colour in the scales of a fish or a bird.

In 2026 I took part in Landscape Artist of The Year.

My work is held in private collections in Europe, America and Dubai.
