Michael James Talbot

Michael Talbot is a British sculptor born in Staffordshire in 1959, who pursued a BA Honours in Sculpture, followed by postgraduate study at the Royal Academy of Arts, where he won the prestigious Landseer Prize in 1983. He further honed his craft under the guidance of Colin Melbourne ARCA and Dame Elizabeth Frink RA Collier & Dobson.
He was later elected a member of the Royal Society of British Sculptors (1997) and the National Sculpture Society, USA (2012)
Talbot’s work is deeply inspired by the human form, theatre, myth, dance, and illusions of movement—creating compositions that feel like frozen choreography. His process begins with a detailed clay form before each sculpture is cast in bronze using the ancient lost-wax technique; the work is then enhanced with Talbot's own signature patinas, with full control over the finish.
A recurring theme in his work is the dramatic interplay of form, tension, and balance, inviting viewers to engage emotionally and imaginatively with each piece.
