Mike Kelly’s Threshold V has won the main prize
at this year’s Whitaker Open and has been acquired for The Whitaker’s permanent
collection. The Open drew around 600 applicants, with 120 works selected for
the exhibition, which runs until 13th December. The work was created as a response
to the 1826 Weavers’ Uprising and the massacre at nearby Chatterton, so it’s a
real honour to see it enter the collection of such an important local arts
venue.
