A new chapter for Arcade; reimagining the gallery as both exhibition space and social kitchen, where art meets everyday life.
This is Arcade re-opens in its newly built space on the border of Southwark and Lewisham in South-East: a gallery reimagined, not just for showing art, but for sharing meals, conversations and community. At its heart lies the kitchen, not a mere adjunct, but the centrepiece of our practice. We invite artists, neighbours and civic groups into a space where cooking, making and exhibition sit side by side.
Here food becomes a form of care, connection and cultural reflection. Our programme positions the kitchen as social glue: supper-clubs, workshops, ingredient studies and shared events where the barrier between artist and audience dissolves, and art meets everyday life.
Through this new model — a gallery plus kitchen, organised as a Community Interest Company — we aim to rethink how culture operates. We strive for a practice that treats art, food and community as interlinked forces for inclusion, sustainability and radical possibility
