Tom Voyce won Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year in 2017. His energetic brushwork, bold compositions and distinctive response to landscape impressed the judges throughout the competition. Tom's paintings investigate structure, perspective, shape and light. Their strength lies not in faithful depiction, but in suggesting the experience of being present within a particular space at a particular moment.

Winning the programme led to a major £10,000 commission and the opportunity to travel to Jamaica to paint the view from Firefly, the former home of Noël Coward. The experience  transformed Tom's professional career and brought his work to an international audience. His success came from working quickly, making confident compositional decisions and capturing atmosphere without becoming tied to literal representation - exactly the skills at the heart of this workshop.
