In Barbara’s Milkshake (brings all the boys to the yard) by Holly Stevenson, the glaze colours of the ceramic figure are drawn from candy-striped cotton bedsheets, a nod to Manchester's history as a centre of cotton production. The work is also a tribute to Barbara Hepworth, and echoes her drawing Spiral with Red (1946) in the collection of Manchester Art Gallery. Similar figures from the series are held in private collections.
