Self Portrait No.4 (1 of 3)
Abingdon Studios Project Space
Stand: 228
Holly Kilner is a North West-based disabled artist whose
work celebrates resilience, awareness and reclamation. Through painting, she
explores the emotional landscape of living with chronic illness and disability,
transforming personal experience into visual storytelling. Holly's practice is
deeply personal and universally human – a reminder to live fully and find
creativity, even in pain. She honours her own journey by incorporating
awareness ribbon colours that reflects her health conditions, weaving them into
each artwork as symbols of reflection and acceptance. Holly paints organ-like
forms on repurposed NHS envelopes, turning anxiety-inducing medical
correspondence into deeply personal self portraits. These works blur the line
between vulnerability and empowerment, body and mind, transforming fragments of
her lived experience into visual affirmations of healing. Through her art,
Holly invites others to find meaning in the marks that makes us human and the
quiet resilience that exists within us all.
There are three works in the series available to purchase.
