Choices, Mistakes & Regrets

Manchester School of Art Stand: 122

Choices, Mistakes and Regrets is a site-specific installation for Holden Gallery, exploring the profound interconnectedness of human decisions. Inspired by the Sanskrit phrase “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” —meaning the world is one family—it features one hundred terracotta faces suspended across space symbolising the eight billion individuals inhabiting the world. Each face carries a unique identity yet collectively represents humanity’s presence and consequence. The work contemplates how personal and political decisions ripple through lives, shaping futures and histories.

Through fragile earthen forms and suspended compositions, the installation evokes vulnerability and resilience, inviting viewers to confront their cycles of choice, mistake, and regret. It represents a quiet call for empathy, accountability, and awareness of humanity’s individual and collective agency.

Material: Terracotta clay + Cord
