Turner Prize winner Mark Leckey has an ongoing fascination with the affective power of images, music and technology, and often uses reconfigured archival footage in his work. He has produced an edition echoing his work for the Biennial, Dream English Kid 1964-1999 AD, which mines archival footage and objects found online, including television shows, advertisements and music, to create a record of all the significant events of his life, from his birth until 1999. Three Letter Threnody, is an alphabetical index of logos representing companies and organisations from that era that no longer exist.
Mark Leckey (b. 1964, Birkenhead, UK) uses a variety of media, including film, sculpture, sound and performance. He has an ongoing fascination with the affective power of images, music and technology, and often uses reconfigured archival footage in his work.
Leckey has had solo exhibitions at many major international galleries and museums including MoMA PS1, New York, USA (2016); Secession, Vienna, Austria (2015); Haus der Kunst, Munich, Germany (2015); WIELS Contemporary Art Centre, Brussels, Belgium (2014); Hammer Museum, Los Angeles, USA (2013); the Serpentine Gallery, London, UK (2011); Le Consortium, Dijon, France (2007); and Migros Museum, Zurich, Switzerland (2003). He has an exhibition on currently at Grundy Art Gallery, Blackpool, UK (2016).
