Pressing Closer forms part of a series of similar works exploring the fetishism of cars through advertising images. Drawing parallels between commodity fetishism and sexual fetishism, the work builds on tactics employed by advertisers to produce desire. The work was produced during a period of research and development, supported by funding from Arts Council England’s Developing Your Creative Practice Fund.
